When I broke my foot last month, I needed something that still made me feel good, something I could actually do. So I started doing all kinds of exercises that didn’t involve the foot. Core, upper body, stretching.
And then I picked up this breathing app I’d had on my phone forever, Othership. I’d tried it a few times before, always liked the idea, but never stuck with it.
This time I did.
Now it’s the first thing I do every morning at 3:40 a.m.
Fifteen minutes of breathing. No phone, no scrolling, just breath.
And a few times throughout the day too, when I hit that little afternoon fog, when focus fades, when I start clicking around like a zombie.
That part of my day is gone now.
I don’t need the coffee. I don’t need the YouTube break.
Just breathe, and I’m back.
More awake. Sharper. Clearer.
Feels a little like a drug, honestly.
A good one.
Can’t wait to see how regular breathwork affects my running performance once I’m back on the trails.
